Project Summary: This internship project will focus on the development of an  openHAB plugin for the Smart Home openHAB system that can understand commands in the medium of te reo Māori. The plugin will be published as open source.

The raumati intern will be supervised by Associate Professor Te Taka Keegan, with assistance from Professor Mark Apperley and senior research programmer Peter Reutemann (all of University of Waikato).

The project is of an applied nature and will develop the intern’s experience with software development and smart home technology. The project will have a unique contribution to the creation and development technologies that work with te reo Māori, and ultimately support the revitalisation of te reo Māori and enhance its relevance for future generations.
